Cincinnati-based singer-songwriter Katie Bates is getting “Naked,” but it has nothing to do with the shedding of clothes. Produced by fellow Cincinnati artist Tony “2Tone,” at Blacklight Productions, “Naked” was the first single out since Bates’ self titled EP, Katie Bates.
Bates explains the inspiration for “Naked,” saying, “You hear so many songs that are about hooking up, or getting with somebody … this is about wanting to get to know a person more, wanting to strip their walls down, and get to know them inside and out.”
With the feel of a Top 40 hit, “Naked” is a slight shift, musically, from Bates’ previous work, which includes a self-titled EP. She notes “Naked” has “a sexier vibe, and style,” adding, “My self-titled EP had a more old school Taylor Swift feel to it.” ”Naked” was featured on the Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica compilation album distributed by Amada Records, the DJ Grid, and Contractor. The album hit #1 on the Billboard Reggae charts, earning Bates her first Billboard plaque.
Having already amassed over 42k streams on Spotify, Katie Bates is clearly an artist on the rise. If you were not already listening to her music, it’s time to get “Naked” with her. Listen to “Naked” on Spotify, YouTube, or Soundcloud.
